The Colorado Avalanche pose a major problem for the Winnipeg Jets tonight

Avalanche at Jets

Canada Life Centre – Winnipeg, MB

7:00 PM ET

Colorado -210

The Jets are about to run into a buzzsaw. That’s what awaits them at home tonight when the Avalanche pay a visit.

Colorado has lost three-straight games, tying its longest skid of the season. Head coach Jared Bednar will be adamant about his team getting back on track, as he doesn’t want them stumbling toward the postseason. As a result, Winnipeg will get the best version of the Avs tonight.

That doesn’t bode well for the Jets. They’re currently on a four-game losing streak, part of a 2-8 slide in their last 10 games. Officially eliminated from the postseason, Winnipeg is simply playing out the stretch.

Meanwhile, the Avs are the best team in the Western Conference. At 116 points, they’ve already clinched the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. They also have an outside chance of capturing their second-consecutive Presidents’ Trophy, as they currently trail Florida by just four points.

Colorado is averaging nearly one goal per game more than Winnipeg, at 3.81 to 2.97. The Avs are also giving up less goals per game, surrendering just 2.78 to 3.15 for the Jets. They’ll want to get their offense cranking again, as they’ve only score seven goals during their three-game slide.

Look for the Avalanche to start fast and continue the pace throughout the game. They’ll come at the Jets in waves, overwhelming Connor Hellebuyck in net.

This one could get ugly. Colorado will be a focused team tonight. That’s not good news for Winnipeg.
