The Arizona Diamondbacks are the latest team that should benefit from the Rockies paying a visit

At this point in the season, when trends have clearly started to emerge, it’s a good idea to look for certain teams at the beginning of the day. Find them on the board and see if there’s a reason not to go against them. 

Such is the case with the Rockies. Colorado has turned into a laughingstock, a team seemingly going through the motions in the second half of the season. 

Despite a win on Thursday, the Rockies have been pitiful since the All-Star break. They’re just 4-11 record since the midsummer classic.  

That futility includes a 2-7 mark away from Coors Field, continuing a season-long pattern. Colorado is just 17-34 on the road overall, the worst road record in Major League Baseball. 

Arizona starter Madison Bumgarner is 5-3 at home this year with just a 3.03 ERA. The lefthander’s last home start was against the Nationals on July 23, and he was brilliant. He went 8.0 innings, gave up just four hits and two earned runs. The D-Backs won the game 7-2.  

Bumgarner also beat the Rockies at home on July 9. In that game, the lefty went seven innings and gave up just two earned runs in a 9-2 victory  
 

Rockies starter German Marquez is 6-9 this year with a 5.29 ERA. He has taken the loss in four of his last six starts. The righty went six innings in his last outing against the Dodgers but gave up six hits and five runs (four earned). Colorado lost the game 7-3. 

Today’s schedule search discovered the Rockies on the road. And there’s no reason to believe things will be different than they’ve been all season. Take the Diamondbacks tonight.
